Online bingo giant Party Gaming is nearing a settlement with the US authorities over its business in the country before the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
The US authorities had been set to prosecute online gaming companies it found in breach of the UIGEA when it was implemented in late 2006.
However, a softer approach is now being adopted and Party Gaming, the operator of Party Bingo and a major industry player, is in negotiations with the authorities.
According to reports, PartyGaming CEO Mitch Garber expects a settlement with US authorities over the company’s business activities in the US pre-UIGEA to be reached by the year’s end.
He said: “It's very hard to predict. There's some fluidity to it. We're in the midst of a process and our attorneys tell us it is moving in the right direction and at the right speed.”
