Abbotsford hall leads the way
The renovation of bingo halls across North America is being led by the transformation of Abbotsford Bingo Hall, Canada.
The hall is preparing for a complete revamp, with new slot machines, fine dining facilities and a state-of-the-art electronic bingo floor being installed.
The building’s exterior is to be remodelled, with a classic porte-cochere included in the plans to allow cars to drop bingo players off under cover.
Hall spokesman Art Villa told the Abbotsford Times: “When everything is finished, people will not recognise it. It’s going to be a pretty classy place.”
The renovated hall will take on the new name of Chances Abbotsford. Villa added: “It’s been quite a wait and we hope our customers are excited as we are to have this as a new gaming centre.”
The development of Abbotsford’s hall is being reflected in plans for bingo halls around Canada and the US, which could bring about a boom in land-based bingo.
Online bingo remains hugely popular across the continent and ongoing reviews of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act could yet see the online version of the game opened up to foreign markets once more.
