A Kentucky Judge has denied a motion to stop the state from seizing 141 domain names associated with online bingo and gambling.
The motion, filed by websites, poker players and internet associations, argued that interfering with the Internet would wreak havoc.
But Judge Thomas Wingate set a court date of November 17 and issued a 44-page ruling, saying: "The Internet, with all its benefits and advantages to modern-day commerce and life, is still not above the law."
The case began when Secretary of Justice and Public Safety, Michael Brown, brough a civil action on behalf of the Commonwealth of Kentucky with the backing of Democrat Governor Steve Beshear, seeking the seizure and forfeiture of domain names used to promote or provide illegal gambling within the state.
