Online bingo operators in Antigua will be allowed advertise their services to UK customers from November 21st after the country was 'whitelisted' by the UK Department of Culture.
The decision follows reconsideration of Antigua's application after the country's government made representations to the UK Secretary of State.
Antigua's Minister of Finance and Economy, Dr L. Errol Court, told the Gaming Intelligence Group: "We are extremely pleased that our applicaiton has now been approved and we look forward to the expansion opportunities that this provides for our current licensees and to welcoming other, select, first-rate remote gambling brands to the jurisdiction of Antigua and Barbuda."
UK Minister for Sport, Gerry Sutcliffe, said he felt "content that Anigua and Barbuda has the legal authority to regulate gambling and that its current system of regulation and licensing provides a robust and adequately resourced framework to uphold our shared objectives: to prevent gambling from becoming a source of crime; and to keep gambling fair and open and to protect children and vulnerable people."
Antiguan Director of Gaming, Kaye McDonald, said: "As recognised global leaders in the regulation of the remote gambling industry, we are proud of our high standards.
"The UK whitelisting reaffirms our commitment to adhere to strict principles in the supervision and oversight of this global industry and our current high level of success at doing so."
